Rocky Mountaineer Train Trips

Whether you are taking the train to Vancouver or heading south to Banff, Jasper and Lake Louise, Rocky Mountaineer offers some of the world’s most dramatic rail routes. Featuring lofty mountain peaks, deep forests and pristine waterways, these trips are a sight to behold.

The Rocky Mountaineer operates on three routes across the Canadian Rockies; from Vancouver to Whistler, to Jasper and Banff. The company was founded in 1990 and has quickly grown into one of Canada’s most popular tourist attractions, attracting both domestic and international travellers Rocky Mountaineer vacations with its multi-day luxury scenic train tours.

Travelling on a Rocky Mountaineer is not like other train journeys – you will be treated to a luxury rail experience that has been described as “akin to being at the movies” (you can read our review of the train here). The train features two different service levels, Silverleaf and Goldleaf, both of which offer oversized glass dome windows and outdoor viewing platforms, while host services are also available throughout your trip.

Onboard your coach, you’ll be treated to breakfast and lunch in two sittings each day with your fare inclusive of all drinks and snacks. There is a wide selection of delicious dishes to choose from, including a wide variety of meats and seafood. The food is all freshly prepared in the kitchen on real china, so there’s no compromise when it comes to quality or taste.

As you make your way across the Canadian Rockies, you will pass through some of the most spectacular scenery in North America – glacial lakes, waterfalls, and rushing rivers. You’ll be surrounded by mountains, valleys, and forests, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot wildlife such as elk, deer, or moose.

Each coach has a host who will take you through the journey in a friendly and informative manner. They will tell you all about the places you will be passing through and will be happy to answer any questions you have, while also giving you an insight into the history of the area and the local culture.

You will be able to enjoy your seat at all times and there is plenty of room in the coaches for you to stretch out and relax while you’re on board. You will be able to sit and watch the beautiful scenery go by, or you can bring your own book or deck of cards for some relaxation.

This is an extremely luxurious way to experience some of the most spectacular scenery in North America and it’s a great opportunity to spend time with friends or family while you’re there. The only downside is that if you have young children they may find it difficult to sit still for 10 hours, or you might find they can get a little restless and cranky.
